Zirconia blanks must be stored and processed correctly for restorations to reach the designed quality. These notes come from the HD PLUS instructions for use.
Storage
- Keep blanks dry, at room temperature.
- Leave the blank in its original box until use; avoid damp places or dust.
- Do not stack heavy items on the box; avoid impacts that could chip the disc edge.
Check before use
- Packaging intact, not damp, not damaged.
- Read the inner label: REF, LOT, sizes, date of manufacture and use-by date. Do not use expired blanks.
- Note the scaling factor of the lot to enter in the design software.
- A warranty card is included; keep it to activate when the restoration is placed.
Estimated replacement period
Per the instructions for use, 9 years is the estimated replacement period and no degradation is expected within it. The actual use-by date of each lot always follows its label.
During fabrication
- Use the dedicated clamping holder and a milling programme suited to your machine.
- After milling, blow off dust with an air gun; stain and dry under an infrared lamp following the colouring liquid instructions.
- Sinter according to the instructions supplied with the blank and remove the framework only once the furnace has cooled to room temperature.
- After sintering, sandblast with 50 micron Al₂O₃ at 2–2.5 bar; clean with a brush and water. Do not use steam.
Safety
Blanks are to be used by trained professionals as indicated by the dentist. According to the current instructions, no adverse medical-device incidents have been recorded and no contraindications identified. If you notice a quality or packaging problem, stop use and contact Doan Huy with the LOT on the label.
Keep traceability records
Record the LOT and REF in the case file. When the restoration is placed, activate the warranty card to link the restoration to the blank lot — this makes later warranty handling and tracing quick and accurate.
