HD PLUS Ceramic Block is a zirconia disc 98 mm in diameter. Each box has one specific thickness, shade and type. The right choice makes good use of material and avoids remakes.
Thickness: 10 – 12 – 14 – 16 – 18 – 20 – 22 – 25 mm
The thickness of the blank sets the maximum height of the restoration or framework that can be milled from one disc.
- Single restorations or short bridges usually need only a moderate thickness.
- Long bridges, multi-unit frameworks or tall restorations (for example long implant abutments or restorations with a gingival portion) need thicker blanks.
- Several parts can be nested on one disc; try nesting in CAM software to choose the smallest sufficient thickness and save material.
Leave a safety margin as required by your milling machine and clamping holder.
Shade: A1, A2, A3
The three shades correspond to commonly used groups of the A shade guide. Choose the one closest to the shade the dentist requests; further adjustment is possible with colouring liquid at step 5 of the workflow, or with layering porcelain and glaze for two-layer restorations.
Type: HT, ST, Multilayer
The three types (HT, ST, Multilayer) differ in light transmission and colour structure. Check the data of each type on the label, the instructions and the product page before choosing. Multilayer blanks have several colour layers, so they are commonly considered for restorations needing a natural gradient from neck to incisal edge. On HD PLUS packaging, translucency is stated as 43% and flexural strength as ≥ 1200 MPa.
A quick selection routine
- Define the restoration type and number of units.
- Measure the required milling height in CAM software and pick the smallest sufficient thickness.
- Choose the shade requested by the dentist.
- Choose the type according to tooth position, occlusion and aesthetic needs.
- Note the LOT and scaling factor of the box for the design.
